As an academic All American at the University of Wisconsin, London was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 1966. During his days as a professional linebacker, London earned a law degree attending night classes every night after practice.

He started off practicing criminal law and then moved into civil litigation, continuing in that field throughout the 1970s and 80s. With the intention of making a positive contribution to our community, London entered the primary race for Congress against Jim Bates in 1986.

Along the campaign trail, he learned that the travel schedule of a politician wasn’t for him. “I came to understand that the life of a politician is a very hard life,” said the father of four. “You spend thousands of hours away from your family.”

Following his unsuccessful election bid, Mr. London settled back into his private law practice and took an interest in real estate, restoring historical houses and commercial properties throughout San Diego.

He found himself in the health club business in the 1990s when, as a building owner, his health club tenant moved out.

PureFitness was awarded Outstanding Community Service by the Regional Chamber of Commerce

So, having a passion for health and fitness, he decided to start his own gym. Now, he has three gyms, PureFitness Downtown, South Bay and East County which comprise the PureFitness Sport Clubs family. “I attribute our success to a couple of things, our dedication to delivering outstanding service and value to our members and maintaining the superior quality of our facilities. I believe that Fitness is Hope. We have made a difference in the San Diego community,…..we’re changing lives one member at a time.”
